I recently set up the fingerprint reader on a Dell Latitude 7390. The results are dissapointing. The reader only worked like one or two times out of ten tries. I tried to google a solution and found these two tips useful.
- Use finger pad, not finger tip. I used to just use my finger tip for fingerprint reader, but the success rate was low. After I re-set up the fingerprint authendication using finger pad, I had less problems with it.
- Apply a bit of pressure when you touch the fingerprint reader.
If these two tips still do not work for you. One other tip I found is to install a software called Intel Software Guard Extensions (Intel SGX) Driver for Windows. The driver is for Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016 Family. There is no driver for Windows 11. After installation, reboot your computer and re-set up the fingerprint logon again.
